Letter To Perspective Scouts

Hello,

Do you like the outdoors, camping, fishing, rock climbing, swimming and crafts? Wouldn't you love to do your favorite activities with kids just like you? If you do then there are many other kids just like you in Boy Scout Troop 21.

In our scout troop, we pick where we want to go and what we want to do and the leaders help organize it for us. If we want to go camping in a certain place we can. If we want to plan a canoe trip or a trip to a museum, it is also possible. I have already been to the Florida Keys, Niagara Falls, New York City, Boston, and many other places throughout Pennsylvania. Our last trip was to Washington DC. None of those travels would have been possible if it wasn't for the Boy Scouts.

I also like earning merit badges. Merit badges are badges you receive for learning about specific activities or skills. There are so many to choose from like Camping, Climbing, Computers, Cycling, First Aid, Fishing, Hiking, Horsemanship, Radio, Rifle Shooting, Sculpture, Shotgun Shooting, Snow Sports, Wilderness Survival. Those are just a few. There are many more. If we want to work on a merit badge during a troop meeting or patrol meeting, we can.

I remember when I was your age and I was told about the Boy Scouts. I wasn't sure I wanted to join because I had so many after school activities to do. None of my friends were in scouting which made me nervous about joining. Now I am glad that I did. I got to do everything I always did and so much more. And while we're on the topic of doing so much more, if you join you'll get a chance to climb the rock wall at Goose Pond that we call the COPE tower. All of the Scouts in Troop 21 that have already experienced the COPE tower will tell you how much fun it is to climb it!

You can join at any of our weekly meetings. They're at 7:00 pm every Thursday downstairs in LaSalle Academy Primary Campus (formerly St. Mary's) cafeteria.

See you at the meeting!
