Letter To Perspective Parents

Dear Parent,

Thank you for visiting our website! As you and your son make decisions on extracurricular time commitments, we ask that you consider the unique opportunities that our troop offers to its members.

We currently have about 24 scouts ages 11-17. Our scouts go out on weekend hikes and campouts at locations such as Rickett's Glen, Valley Forge, and Gettysburg. Summer camp features a week of fun outdoor experiences. The troop has hosted talks by a professor on how the Mars rovers work, by an electrician on how to work safely on home projects, and by a hobbyist on how to build model rockets. We serve St. Mary's Visitation Parish as volunteers at many partish events, cemetery spring cleanup and church services. Please visit our website Album or our facebook page for more highlights.

The Boy Scouts of America's program enhances not only boys' individual lives but also their experience in other organized youth activities such as sports and band because of its opportunities for leadership and career development. The BSA program teaches boys to set goals and work at their own rates to advance through the ranks to Eagle Scout. Within the troop, patrols of 5-8 boys elect their leader and learn about teamwork while working on projects. Adults help boys learn what kinds of planning lead to success or failure in projects. Skills such as first aid, knots, cooking, and boating help boys develop self-reliance. The merit badge program introduces boys to hobbies and careers such as business, chemistry, medicine, skiing, theatre and woodcarving.

Since 1928, we have helped over 1100 boys in their progress into adulthood. Among these alumni are generals, medical professionals, lawyers, writers, businessmen, radio broadcasters, scientists, craftsmen, technical professionals, priests, and professors who applied their Scouting experiences to their careers and family lives.

If you have questions please reach out to Mr. Enrico Galassi at egalassi710@comcast.net, or visit us at our Thursday night meetings at 7:00 pm in the school's lower auditorium. Thank you for your consideration!

Yours in Scouting,

Leonard Kalinowski, Committee Chairman
