Winter Weekend 2005
On the January 7-9 weekend we stayed at the Dickson Lodge at Goose Pond. Marty, Chris, Julian, Max, Drew, and Tom attended, along with leaders Len Kalinowski, Frank Klassner, John Maza, Ken Srebro, and Drew Yurkanin. The weather let us have a little fun in the ice-crusted snow on Friday evening, and we played some Monopoly later that night. The weather kept us mostly indoors on Saturday morning, but Mr. Srebro made it very interesting as he taught us about some of the Electricity merit badge requirements. We had a good time wiring up those light fixtures and switches ourselves. Pack 21 Webelos Bruce and Ian visited us later in the day for some snowboard and sledding fun (even the leaders got involved!). We made and cooked tinfoil stew on Saturday night -- some of us learned through experience that more water and soup mix in the foil is better than less! On Sunday morning we hiked the OA Perimeter Trail. On the hike we ran into Scouts from Troop 11 in Scranton. Hiking the trail in the winter with ice-crusted snow on the ground was a lot different from hiking it in the middle of the summer. It got a little more adventurous than we expected crossing the streams when we found all the bridges were washed out from the hurricane that hit at the end of September 2004.
