Northeastern Pennsylvania Council 2004 Traveling Camporee
2004 Traveling Camporee Patch
Troop 21 participated in the 2004 Northeastern Pennsylvania Traveling Camporee, which was held in Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD, during Columbus Day weekend. During our visit to the Annapolis Naval Academy, we toured one of the training ships, saw the crypt of John Paul Jones (the Father of the US Navy), ate in the truly huge dining Academy hall, and saw the University of Scranton's hockey team play Navy. In Washington we visited the Aeronautics and Space Museum and its IMAX theater, the Museum of Natural History, Arlington National Cemetary, the World War II monument, and several other national monuments. The trip ended with a visit to Fort McHenry (the attack on which by the British in 1812 inspired Francis Scott Key to write the National Anthem) and the Baltimore Harbor Aquarium.
